Mount Lukens

Our hike to Mount Lukens was a long one. We did the 10 mile loop, starting at 730 am in the morning. The climb to the peak was nice in the morning sun, clear skies and a gradual ascent. The views are truly breathtaking. The way down felt very long and strenuous with the heat starting to be more present as well. We finished the hike around 2 pm.

The sign for Mount Lukens was inspired by the fact that this Mountain is the highest in the City of LA. The clouds on the sign signify his high elevation. We also aded a reference to Sister Else Peak - the name of the Mountain until it was renamed to Mount Lukens. Not much is known about Sister Else, other than she was a nun fighting small pox. We also included a reference to all the television and radio towers.

We returned to Mount Lukens on June 21st, 2026 for a second drop of a sign. Still an amazing hike - with great views and climbs. We started at 630 am this time and ended around 130 pm.
